Ducks general manager Pat Verbeek made the announcement on Monday, praising Gudas as a leader on the ice, on the bench, and when with the media.
Gudas, 32, is entering his third season with the Ducks after signing a three-year, $9.75 million contract in 2021.
The Czech Republic native has 37 points (six goals, 31 assists) in 101 games with the Ducks.
Gudas has also played for the Philadelphia Flyers, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Washington Capitals during his NHL career.
He has 144 points (22 goals, 122 assists) in 661 career NHL games.
Gudas is known for his physical play and leadership.
He is a three-time winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, given to the Flyers' most valuable defenseman.
Gudas is also a two-time winner of the Barry Ashbee Trophy, given to the Flyers' best defenseman as voted on by the team's players.
The Ducks are hoping that Gudas can help them return to the playoffs for the first time since 2018.
The Ducks have missed the playoffs in each of the past four seasons.
They finished 31st in the NHL standings last season with a record of 31-37-14.
