Keyboard Shortcuts for Screen Capture

Taking screenshots and screen recordings on your Mac has never been easier with a variety of keyboard shortcuts at your disposal. Here's how to capture specific areas of your screen:

Entire Screen

Press Shift-Command-3 to capture a screenshot of your entire screen.

Portion of Screen

Press Shift-Command-4 and drag the crosshair over the area you wish to capture.

Window or Menu

Press Shift-Command-4, then press the Spacebar. The crosshair will turn into a camera icon. Click on a window or menu to capture a screenshot.

Using the Screenshot App

The Screenshot app offers additional features and customization options. To access it:

  1. Press Shift-Command-5.
  2. Select the capture option you want from the control bar at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Click "Capture" to take the screenshot.
